Christmas Day

This is what the living room looked like before presents were opened and messes...I mean memories were made.
I found this cute doll bed at Ikea for cheap and made some bedding for it, the bedding included needed a little help. Reagan loves it!

Lincoln's train table was a huge hit, Tim's Mom, Nana B and Santa brought it for him. Reagan loves it too and we only had some minor issues that hopefully customer service can fix.

Little People Manger from Fisher Price is a big hit with the kids every year, they get moved around the house and we often find baby Jesus driving trucks and the Angle having a tea with Reagan.
Christmas morning, all presents have been opened and playing with new toys continues throughout the day.

Reagan in her new ballet leotard that her Auntie Danielle & Uncle Billy sent her. It was worn all day, even under her snow clothes and she wore it to bed.
It started snowing around 10am and snowed on and off all day, none of it really stuck around.
Poor Lincoln doesn't have any snow clothes so he was sadly as his sister ate snowflakes on her tongue.
Beautiful snow.
This morning we woke up to a trace of snow and it has been snowing again today on and off. Poor Reagan, she keeps praying for heavy snow to make a snowman. It hasn't snowed here on Christmas Day since 1984, and that was a lot of snow.

little project

Before I painted this coffee table white it was oak with a darker stain. After I painted it white I painted the checker board at one end then sealed it with mod podge. Then Reagan & I cut out friends and family from picture's and then mod podge those to the table too. After about 4 layers of mod podge it went into Reagan's room as her special table.

We had to move the coffee table because Lincoln is getting a train table for Christmas and its staying downstairs. I don't think I'm done with the table, I think I might do something with the sides and legs.

A Diva is Born

Reagan is in the black dress with white poke a dots and a red head band. She did great in the beginning but quickly thought playing with her friend was more fun.

After Reagan's class sang all the preschool and kindergarten classes sang together and one little boy took off his shirt, we didn't get that on tape but I'm sure someone else did.

When Tim went and got Reagan she said, "Daddy did you see me?", he said, "I sure did, and you did great." She then went on to add, "I didn't even lay down!"

.....We can't wait until next year!!

I'm not a nerd

So, I have been playing around with html code and am slowly teaching myself how to change things here and there.

What do you think of the new color?

I'm still learning so you might find changes here and there, its just me educating myself on html code.

Mama please help me!!!!

That is what Lincoln is screaming, he was fine right up until I put him in Santa's lap and walked away. Let me tell you, that Santa is strong, he has a very good grip. As you can also tell, Reagan is not bothered at all by her brothers death scream.

In other news, the power steering pump in our '06 honda odyssey went out again and its only been 10 months since the last one was replaced. It is all covered under warranty but still that shouldn't happen, it only has 30,000 miles on it. So now we are tossing the idea around of buying an extended warranty. This is what I'm not sure on, do different dealers have different prices for the extended honda care warranty, or is it a set price from the factory?

Reagan's Christmas program is Monday night and I'm going to try to upload video and put it on here via You Tube. I have never done it before, but I'm sure I can figure it out. If anyone has any tips please feel free to share, I need all the help I can get.

Happy Birthday Emily and a story about Sean

Happy Birthday Emily, we have been friends almost 20 years, since junior high, and I love you and hope to see you this week....I don't know what I would do without you!!!

Just a quick funny story.

Tim downloaded Starbucks locations for my tomtom because for some reason they aren't on there and they don't offer them on tomtom's website. So, we found them on this other site and when I get close to a Starbucks Mr. T says, "Pay attention fool." It is very funny and now I know when I'm within 300 yards of a Starbucks.

The other part of the story is that Tim also downloaded to my tomtom, other voice's that give you directions. They are voice impersonators of famous people, so now for options of voice I have; night rider, Darth Vader, Yoda, homer simpson (not very good), john luke picard, and my favorite Sean Connery. He lets me know in yards when I need to turn onto the motorway and when we arrive at our destination we are shaken not stirred.

So the best part of having Sean give us directions is that Reagan has picked up on his accent and repeats only one word he says but it is the funniest word I think. When he tells us to turn left, its with a strong British accent and Reagan does her best to sound just like him so she says, turn lehfft. I wish I could put sound on here but you will just have to use your imagination, Tim helped me with how I should spell it phonetically to get across the right sound of the "eh" which almost sounds like a strong "a".

We had Christmas at my Grandma's house tonight, I will post picture's soon, but I haven't been feeling good so it might have to wait a couple of days.

Lincoln also fell off my Dad's shoulders on Saturday night but by the grace of God he doesn't have one bruise on his whole body and he landed on his head and back, Praise the Lord!! But we have had to check on him every 2-4 hours at night and that has been hard, plus he is teething and he has been a cranky little monster, but we love him and are thankful he wasn't hurt.

Windy Ridge

We have nicknamed our little abode "windy ridge". We have called it this long before this current windstorm. For Tim's birthday last year we got him a weather station with a wind gage, unfortunately it doesn't give you a constant reading of the wind, just in 2 minute intervals. So, if the wind is not blowing hard it will show a low speed, so that is kinda frustrating, but it is still very cool. So far the highest gust of wind we have had was at 6:15am this morning and it was 36 mph.

We also have one piece of loose siding, and it just happens to be the wall where our bed is, its not safe to go out now and nail it back in. We tried to locate the piece of siding but you just can't tell, I'm not even sure we have a ladder tall enough to reach it. The real annoying part of the loose siding is that it knocks all night long because of the high wind.

Reagan has been having a hard time sleeping because of all the noise, it is really something to hear the wind blow so hard. I was watching Desperate Housewives and they had a tornado on the show and at times I felt like we were in a tornado.

Welcome Max and trimming the tree

Our great friends Scott & Shana that live in Alaska just had their second child, Max Holden, he was born November 29, weighing in at 9 lb 6 oz and 21 inches long, red hair and is just beautiful. Max is welcomed by his older sister Madison, haven't heard what she thinks about all this, but I'm sure she is already in love like the rest of us.
We went to a local Christmas tree farm and found the best looking tree we have ever had. We had hot chocolate, because it was really cold and really windy. We had a lite dusting of snow this morning but it didn't stick around. Oregon is getting ready for a wicked windstorm, the advisory runs from 10 am Sunday to 10 pm Monday. We don't have any large tree's in our yard and our surrounding neighbors don't either so we shouldn't have tree related damage. Tim is going to put the BBQ in the garage and take down the patio furniture.

Lincoln often thinks everything is great, when he is in Mama's arms. I had to hold him the entire time, he only got down to see the nativity scene and bring me the large plastic sheep saying, "baa Mama, baa."

Our lovely tree getting shook.

I asked Reagan if she wanted to go through the baler and she said, "um, no."

Our tree getting baled. Last year we didn't get the tree baled or shook and I still have needles in the back of the van.

Reagan insisted that we walk through the muddy field of tree's, she loved all the little ones and wanted them all for her room.

We needed to get milk and some snacks for the big Civil War game between The Oregon State Beavers and the University of Oregon Ducks. It was a close game that went into double overtime, but the triumphant Beavers won, and they won on the Ducks home turf. GO BEAVS!!

As we pulled into the parking lot, you couldn't miss the famous Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. So, we got out and took a picture, none of us have our shoes on because they are all muddy and in the back of the van. The kids got wiener whistles that are already very annoying.

Reagan helped me decorate the tree before Lincoln woke up from his nap. Don't worry she didn't really put the Angle on the tree, it just looks like she did.
She is such a great helper and wanted to know the story of each ornament, which is fun because in a few years she will probably care less.

Looks pretty good don't you think?
I need to go to bed, I'm getting up before the crack of dawn to get Tim a Christmas present, and I can't say what it is because he reads my blog.

Oh, What a Day to be Thankful for!!

My Grandma Ruth came for Thanksgiving and she came with her friend Jo, my cousin Shelly and her husband Ernie (my kids love Ernie.) He is a full blooded Native American, we had a real Thanksgiving, Ernie made the beautiful and delicious apple pie on the right...Grandma made the lemon meringue on the left.

Reagan had Tea for the first time wild berry zinger with too many sugar cubes and whip cream...she loved it.
My Grandma always makes banana cream pie on Thanksgiving and for me it wouldn't be complete without it, it was so good!!! Thanks Grandma!!
We turn our attention to the turkey, we cooked it upside down for most of the cooking then turned breast side up, it was the juiciest turkey I have ever eaten. There was just one problem, it was falling apart, I know that means that the turkey is done and we don't have to worry about getting sick, but I wanted the pretty looking turkey.

We wanted to make sure the turkey would be really done, so we put in two of those pop up thermometers that let you know when its ready. Well, Mom and I didn't realize that we put well....nipples on the turkey.....so we had one perky turkey.

I put up the portable DVD player for the kids in the living room, I think they were watching barnyard with my Dad, it turned out to be a real lifesaver.

Mom took this picture, it was really cold outside like 38 degrees so she only took one, she had to go out the back door to get us all in the picture. I'm the pink fuzzy person on the left end with a fuzzy Lincoln on my lap. My cousin Mark came too, his wife Tracy had to work, I have spent so many Thanksgivings with Mark and his family I can't even count. My Dad is at the end, and next to him is Ernie and Shelly, then Jo and Reagan with the goofy face. So Mark is sitting next to me, then Grandma and Tim.
I guess for my first turkey I wanted it to look like the magazine cover. But most importantly, we had such a good day me and my Mom cooking in the kitchen, my Dad, Tim and the guys watching football and playing with the kids, it was just so nice.
I love having family together, my cousins came, we told stories, caught up and the kids ran circles around us.
And then we ate pie!!!

Last week Reagan helped Daddy with the leaf blower, she thought it was the coolest thing ever!!
I'm so grateful for my Husband, our kids and both of our families, we love them all!!

I'm not lost

My Dad was in Vegas last weekend and my Mom was sick so we celebrated at Red Robin for a birthday lunch. Reagan went shopping with my parents a couple of weeks ago for a birthday present for my Grandma. They got her a TomTom One XL, its a portable GPS for the car and its really cool, well Reagan wouldn't let my parents leave the store without getting one for me too. Reagan later told me that she wanted me to have it so we wouldn't ever get lost. Tim has now decided to send Reagan with my parents when they go birthday shopping for him and send them to Best Buy for a Nintendo Wii.

My Grandma and our friend Jo came to lunch as well, they both gave me some birthday money. After lunch we went to see Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, it was really good and perfect for the whole family.
Lincoln loves his GG (it stands for Great Grandma), so he was in her lap for most of the meal.

Christy's appliance repair

Today I received 4 nice surprises in the mail today. 1 package from Electrolux, 1 card from my brother and his family, another card from my Sister in law Beth, and a package from my other brother Bill and his wife Danielle.

To be completely honest I opened the relay part from electrolux first and installed it immediately and was completely disappointed because the oven still didn't work. I emailed this repair guy online who gives out free advice when this all started and he said, "Hot wiring a relay is a bad idea...(duh!) The relay should not be replaced separately." So when the oven didn't work I swapped out the clock/timer I originally ordered and what do you know the oven works. After doing the happy dance and praising the Lord that our oven now works, I called the parts place and told them to cancel our refund because the part did in fact work. I guess the relay and the clock/timer need to be replaced together, I'm guessing the relay stopped working and it fried the clock/timer. Thanksgiving is now saved, I bought a 24lb butterball turkey yesterday in hopes that the oven would be fixed by Thanksgiving (oh, and I only paid $5.24 for the turkey....I love it when I find good deals). So, now the pressure is on, I have never cooked a turkey before, I think I might have my mom spend the night and help me with it.

On to the other surprises I received in the mail, one was a thank you card from Beth for the birthday present last month but the real treat are the 2 picture's of my niece & nephew. Alex with be 16 in January and Meghan is 12. I'm not sure how time went by so fast but I remember when I told Meghan that I was getting married, she was 4 years old at the time and this is what she said, "You can't get married.....because then you will grow up." I told her not to worry that I would still play with her and do fun kid things, but Meghan it is now you who is growing up so fast....please slow down.

The other card was from them as well but it was a birthday card with a nice gift card to Nordstroms....yippie!!!

I also received a book from my other brother Bill and his wife Danielle, the book is called Sex God by Rob Bell. This what the publisher says about the book, "
God and sex go together. You can’t separate the two, says Rob Bell, because this physical world is intimately linked to deeper spiritual realities. And so, in order to make sense of sexuality, at some point you have to talk about God. With beauty and unusual insight, Sex God explores this connection."
I like the book, I'm at chapter 2 'sexy on the inside'. I will let you all know what I think of the book when I'm done, I don't think it should take me too long. Rob teaches in a series of short films called NOOMA, I really enjoyed those.

Well....

So, I called Frigidaire customer service and if you can believe it they are sending me the relay for free!!! I canceled the other order and now I continue to wait, and hope and pray that is the problem.

My birthday is tomorrow, we have a kid birthday party to go to for Reagan's friend Chloe, its at the McDonald's play place (the kids are excited). Then we are taking the kids to their Nana Sue & Papa Kim's house while Tim and I go shopping. We will come back and have a nice birthday dinner, she is making my favorite lemon basil chicken with fettuccine....so good.

My back feels great, the prednisone made me jittery and lets just say my whole house is clean....even the office, the one room you don't have to have clean....but it is now.

Tim saw a specialist about his vertigo and he said that it could take 6 months for the labyrinthitis to go away.

The gate at the top of the stairs broke last night, so now we have giant holes in the wall.

Tim made a scrapbook for my birthday, its from my publisher, I absolutely love it and am very impressed with how it turned out.

we wait

The relay part is on back order, not sure if I should cancel the order and look somewhere else or just wait. My birthday is on Saturday and I would love it if Tim would make me a cake, I guess he could use the small oven....but then my cake would look like a loaf of bread.

So, we wait.

I do want to tell you all about my interested Dr.'s appointment last week.
I went in because my upper back has been really bothering, I've been holding a lot of stress there. So, our doctor is also an osteopath with experience in sports medicine, I'm telling him about my back and the next thing I know he has me on the table and he is telling me I have this old injury and he is going to "fix" me. I have never heard so many joints pop in my entire life, I was bent in half, at one point I say "um, Dr., are you a chiropractor too?" me being all trusting him with my body, he says, "no but I was a fellow in sports medicine" okay? I told him um, its starting to hurt and he says I know, but I'm going to fix it. I think I was a little traumatized, I just thought I would get a referral for pt and have 6 weeks of shoulder massage. He sent me home with prendizone and I see him again this week, this time I will get a sitter for Lincoln, he was traumatized as well, both of us didn't see that happening at the doctor's appointment. So, I was in pain for about 2 1/2 days in the muscle that has always bothered me. It has been 5 days and I feel so much better, I truly didn't think it was going to work, considering I couldn't move my head or neck to the left, but now I feel great. I told Tim that if this worked on my that it would be his turn next. We will see about that one.

Its all about the relay

I would just like to thank my brother Bill for making me laugh this morning with comments on yesterday's topic of wiring diagram 101. Now if I could just get my oven to go 88 mph, I know it would just fix everything. I so needed laughter and to be able to laugh at our situation, and thanks to Scott as well, you made me laugh too. Thanks again guys.

A different repair guy showed up to look at the floor and took a picture to show his boss. I then sweet talked him into looking at the oven, he fixed the burnt wire for free, thanks repair guy. In his humble opinion which to tell you the truth I think I am smarter than the repair guy, this is what they do, fix appliances and I'm the one showing him what is wrong with the oven. He said he thinks it is the relay, which is what I thought, but I could not for the life of me find the part using the part number off the relay.

I went on what Reagan calls a field trip around to various electronic supply stores, everyone was stumped. So, I look up Frigidaire online and find an "authorized parts dealer" so I give them a call and they tell me that what I have is not a frigidaire part, which makes me beg the question, "how did this unauthorized part get in my oven to begin with?"

I decide I need to take a look at everything again and get my stuff in order. I call a different "authorized parts dealer" and I get a women which is just so refreshing, she not only finds the part but actually gives me the official part number and tells me it is like $50.00 + $15.00 for 2nd day air, that seems a little pricing, so I decline and tell her I will call her back.

I decide to look on the trusty internet with my new found information. I find the part for $24 + $8.00 ground shipping, when the part arrives next week, I'm praying and hoping with everything I have that this is the defective part.

Oh, and the other parts place told me to keep the part for 30 days in the rare case that the manufacturer will want to look at it, so I said okay. That pricey clock/timer part could be working just fine, but because it didn't fix my problem they say the part is defective, and they will get a credit from the manufacturer.

So we have this spare part that might come in handy but we really can't sell it second hand because there is no way to tell if the part works until I get the other part fixed if that really is the problem and not 2 repair guys can even tell what is really wrong, me the stay at home appliance repair mom/wife is figuring it out.

I need to go to bed and sleep and clear my brain.

wiring diagram 101

Our oven stopped working on Sunday, this happened almost a year ago in December.

So, I call the appliance repair man on Monday and Tuesday the repair guy shows up and confirms its the same part as last time, it cost $400 to fix it last time. I told the guy we couldn't afford that right now, and he said that I could replace the part, so he gave me the part number and I went searching on the Internet for the part.

I found it at almost half the price we paid last time...thank you God! Get the part, get a little shock (the electrical kind) so I unplug oven......and decide to wait until Tim gets home and we replace the part and the oven still doesn't work. So, I start reading the wiring diagram, yes I now have become good at matching wire color and decoding all the wires in the back of our oven. I start praying because I'm at a loss, I'm not mad at God, we are trying to save money, we are on a budget and I just don't know what to do, so I determine that I need a break.

I watch Oprah and she is talking about aging too quickly and the number 1 aging factor is stress, I veg out and then go back to the oven. As I'm putting it back together, crying because it just seems like nothing is working I notice something about one wire. When Mr. Repair man was here, he showed me how to basically hot wire the oven to work with these certain two wire. Well, one of the wires looks burnt and I can see the wire through the plastic covering....and I'm thinking God could this be our problem.... just a small wire that might cost $3.00, I'm praying it is.

Meanwhile I call the place where we got the part and he sends me an email with a return shipping label. Then I get another email from him and he informs me that we don't need to send back the part, all they need is the serial number from our oven and they will immediately refund our money. Praise God!! But I also wonder, does he know something I don't? I don't know but I am praying that when my Dad comes tomorrow we will figure it out with God's guidance. So please pray that our oven with be healed.

Just so you don't all think Tim isn't helping out, he is, he just can't really work on it until the weekend and well ladies you all know how important our ovens are.

And just to add a cherry at the top of our mess, when the repair man was here he scrapped up our floor pretty bad, so tomorrow morning he is sending some repair guy to take a look at it, and all I can do is just praise God because right now I feel powerless, I hope I'm learning a really good lesson from God because I sure am listening.

Thank you all for letting me unload on you.

I'll keep you updated.

Boooooo

Here they are waiting for Reagan's friend Chloe and Chloe's Daddy.
Lincoln is Mickey Mouse, and the cutest one I think, and Reagan is Alice in Wonderland, she was so excited to be Alice today.

Can't stand waiting so they start dancing and acting super silly.

The silliness continues until Chloe arrives with her Daddy.

They all look so sweet and innocent, but we all know the real truth :)
Chloe is Super Girl, she looked awesome!!!!

They had a great night with only minor run ins with some pretty scary Darth Vader's, when Tim put Reagan to bed tonight she prayed that she wouldn't see anymore Darth Vader's....I think the girls were a little traumatized. My Dad also went with the guys but came back early with Lincoln, he did pretty good, but enjoyed handing the candy out more.

Happy Halloween!!!!

pumpkin carving

So we started carving pumpkins yesterday, Reagan wanted Disney themed pumpkins. So, after hours of searching on the Internet I found this website by Disney, click on fall fun then on pumpkin carving and you will have 3 carving patterns to choose from, Cinderella, Nemo, and a Castle.

I carved Cinderella and Nemo, and I think they turned out pretty good. I will post a picture tonight of what they look like at night.

Pretty cool looking, huh?

Just so you all know that these are pumpkins
and not some fancy CGI stuff.

Beavers Win!!

Beavers played against Stanford and won 23 to 6. It was a great game and a beautiful fall day. This is walking up to Reser Stadium with all the pre-game events.

These are our seats in the Wells Fargo sky box, complete with blankets and binoculars, although we didn't need the blankets but the binoculars came in handy.

This is Tim, Sandi our private client banker and me. I have known Sandi since I was preteen little girl and would follower her to any bank, we love you Sandi!! There was great food, good company and it was all about the Beavers.

I don't know if you can see it but the band is spelling out BEAVERS.

Tim's step dad is a 2 time all American wrestler when he went to OSU, so they honored athletes like him, they welcomed the football players on the field, I circled him in orange.

The brand new video board is the largest in the pac-10, its huge.

This is a view from inside the box, it is located 3 boxes from the end, close to the presidents box....it was so much fun!! Once a year we get to experience the game like high rollers

And this is the beautiful sunset we saw, it was a great day without the kids, wish we could go to every game.

Go Beavs!!!
