The Sate Fair

First up, the jungle tent with
Spiders, snakes....lots of snakes, pythons, rattle snakes, rat snakes,
Turtles, an alligator, porcupine, bobcats, and 1 large pixie frog.

Turtles

The kiddies swings.

The canoe ride, she went around twice, Lincoln couldn't go on
any rides because he wasn't two yet.

Kiddie roller coaster ride with two girls that
we didn't know, but you know Reagan.
She quickly said, "hi I'm Reagan, whats your name?"

Lincoln and Mommy, watching all the excitement.

Lincoln LOVED all the animals.
Baby chicks

Reagan loves the baby chicks too.

We had to have some ice cream,
Lincoln and I had chocolate & vanilla swirl.

Reagan as she calls it banilla.

The petting zoo, we even fed them and that was
very excited for both kids...Lincoln and I did most of the feeding.
Reagan would always drop hers right before the animals mouth
got even close to her hand.

Lincoln is just so excited.

You should know that in past years there have been E-coli outbreaks after several county fairs.
They researched it and all came back to the petting zoo. So, there is this trailer that you enter as soon as you exit the petting zoo to wash hands, they even have a black light to make sure that you got your hands good and clean. Where ever animals are at the fair there is either a hand washing station or little packets of antibacterial gel to put on your hands. We had a great time, and I think Reagan is going to go back with her Nana.

On another note, I was able to get all the sprinklers either rotated or capped, that way when they go off it won't get the play area all wet. This weekend is the big work weekend to get ground ready for the play set.

The backyard

We have decided that we are going to get the kids a play structure thing for the backyard. We don't have an overly large backyard and its not small either. We didn't get the big one from Costco, the price was right, but it just would have been too big for our moderately sized yard.

We have decide after a long search and several show room visits to go with Backyard Adventures play set from The Kids' Backyard Store.

This picture is basically the play set we will get, ours will have a 6 foot high deck and a 12 foot rocket slide and one swing arm for one swing. The kids (mainly Reagan) are very excited about this.

Tim and I will have to get an area for the play set ready, meaning taking up part of the grass that we laid ourselves in the pouring rain in cold October and broke our backs over but saved us over $2500 dollars by doing so. Tim has not looked forward to this nor have I, we are going to rent a machine from the big box hardware store to help in the process, but we still have to deal with the sprinklers and lay big bark chips after the play set is installed. We will post picture's of before, during and after when everything is all said and done.

The State Fair started today, I have always loved the fair, I can't wait to take the kids, see the animals, eat an elephant ear, curly fries, funnel cake, and other fair food. I just love the fair.

YMCA
We are such a bunch of clever guys.

Oh what a day

So, yesterday I had a doctor's appointment because I aggravated an old back injury. I have one dead disc in my lower back along with several bulging disc that cause my right thigh to go numb over my quad muscle. After the Disney trip my leg was numb all the time and now my shin was starting to tingle. So my doctor gave me a shot of prednisone and I go home to see it if helps. If not we do another MRI (haven't had one in almost 10 years) and PT. The shot itself didn't hurt, however 5 minutes after the shot...oh and wow did it hurt. I have a big old bruise on my left tushy cheek.

Tim also had a doctor's appointment with the same doctor that afternoon. He is also suffering from the Disney trip, it is more with his feet because he has flat feet. Well, it turns out that he has the worse case of planter fasciitis, it has something to do with his heel, and he is being sent to a specialist at the big university hospital. He is also having multiple migraines a week so they are doing a ct-scan hopefully sometime next week.

Wait the day only gets better.

We are all home 3 minutes away from eating dinner when Reagan falls on this stick thing that holds together a collapsible mesh basket we store the kids balls in, she was using it as a musical instrument and singing jingle bells. She instantly starts screaming and there is lots of blood, call Dr. they send us to the ER where after 2 hours they tell us she is going to be fine, and to feed her ice cream and Popsicles......a child's dream come true.

Tim called while we were at the er and says do you want the good news or the bad news. I say bad and he goes on to tell me that while serving up his burrito on a plate it fell on the floor and broke and he burned his finger on the hot cheese. He said but the good news is that Lincoln ate an entire burrito (chicken, peppers, sauce and the tortilla) I tell yeah that boy loves to eat, I don't think I could get Reagan to do that if her life depended on it.

Oh what a day we had.

Reagan's 4 year old check up

Reagan's 4 year old check went really well, except for the last 5 minutes.
  • She had her hearing tested: passed
  • She had her vision tested: 20/30 right eye and 20/40 for the left eye....normal
  • Weight 30 lbs 11%
  • Height 38 inches 25%
She is petite and probably will be her whole life.

The last 5 minutes were when she was given her 4 shots. It was horrible, she scream and cried and all I wanted to do was cry with her but I had to be strong. After the band-aids were put on we sat down and the nurse brought her a little snickers bar and 2 stickers. But almost immediately she had a reaction to the MMR Chickenpox vaccine, the nurse didn't want us to leave and wanted the dr. to look at it first before we left. There was a small welt and a red rash around the welt. He said give her benadryl when we get home and call if it gets worse. It went away by the end of the day. But, when she woke up the next day it was back, without the welt. Its warm to the touch, it hasn't gotten any bigger and hasn't gotten any smaller either. So, the dr. says just keep giving her benadryl and call if it gets bigger. She now has a low grade fever and its been 3 days. If we go back to the dr. I'm not sure there really is anything they can do. So, we wait for it to go away. I drew a line around it so I could tell if it got any bigger or smaller, that has been a big help.
I'm going to take a picture, it doesn't really look like a hive to me.

Disneyland

We arrived August 5th, our 7th wedding anniversary had dinner and went to the park that night. My parents went back to the hotel to rest up for the next day, we had had a long day of travel. We went on the Haunted House, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Jungle Cruise, and then took the monorail back to the hotel. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, it was every one's first time staying at the hotel and I'm glad we opted to stay close. The queen beds were very comfortable, and we had a standard view of the convention center parking lot. My brother and his family and my parents and our family all stayed on the same floor which turned out to be a great idea. We took two strollers so if we wanted to separate one person wasn't stuck with a double stroller and both kids...at times we divided and conquered.

Monday we stared off having breakfast
with Minnie and had a great time.

Reagan was very concerned about seeing Captain hook, so we came up with a plan.

We all started chanting "tick, tock" "tick, tock" "tick, tock".
If you aren't familiar with the Peter Pan story, Captain Hook's hand was bitten off and eaten by a crocodile, and the croc developed a taste for Hook. So, Hook tricked the croc into eating a clock that went "tick, tock" so he knew when the crocodile was close.

Our plan worked perfectly and Hook picked up on it right away.

He immediately fled our area and wasn't seen again.

We went on to see Cinderella's Fairy Godmother.

We saw Perla, one of Cinderella's mice friends.
She really liked Alex my nephew, it was really funny.

Minnie of course came by,
Lincoln didn't really like her,
he wasn't really sure of any of the character's.
In the center next to Minnie is my niece Meghan.

Minnie came by one last time and Lincoln seemed to do a little better.

Tigger came by for a visit too, and yes he really is that bright,
its really too bright of an orange in my opinion.
I'm not sure if this was the next day or not, we stayed 5 night,
but here is Reagan with Auroa, we waited 45 minutes to meet 3 princess and you guessed Cinderella left 5 minutes before it was Reagan's turn...but she had a good attitude about it.

Pocahontas was very nice and dance with Reagan.

They only have three princess at a time and every 30 minutes they rotate them.
Snow white was next and was by far the most fun for Reagan.

Over at California Adventure Reagan loved the bugs life area.
Here she is with Nana & Granddad on the Heimlich's chew chew ride,
it doesn't go up or down, but they put their arms in the air just for the fun of it.

This is in Mickey's toontown on a roller coaster ride with Daddy.

Weeeeeee, Reagan loved this ride, although she went on the
Matterhorn like 5 times, that was her favorite.

We went to Mickey's toontown madness on
Wednesday Morning, it was really cute and
the kids loved all the singing and dancing.

Back over in the bugs life area, Tim and Reagan
are on tuck and roll's drive'em buggies (bumper cars).

We met Mickey Mouse in California Adventure at
the Fairfax Market. Lincoln instantly took to Mickey
and would have loved it if he would have held him.
Lincoln loves Mickey Mouse.

There is his store called Club Libby Lu's,
Reagan & Meghan got make overs, which included nail polish, makeup, a special Libby hair du, 5 accessories and a sparkle product. Meghan was a good sport and did this for Reagan, Meghan was a little old for it but she did it anyway just for Reagan. Oh, and both hair du's lasted about 30 minutes before the girls took them out, it wasn't very comfortable.

On Thursday My parents, and brother's family went to Laguna Beach,
we joined them on Friday.

This is Thursday waiting for the Parade of Dreams, it started 45 minutes late.
Lincoln woke up half way through the the parade, he had slept for about 2 hours.

Lincoln woke up when the Alice in Wonderland float
stopped in front of us to do a musical number.

Lincoln loved all the bright colors and loud music.

The Queen from Alice in Wonderland poked at Lincoln's foot as they were leaving the area, he didn't give her a good look, it was pretty funny.

Later that day we did the flying dumbo ride,
it was Lincoln's first time on it and absolutely didn't want to get off.

Tim and Reagan were in the flying elephant in front of us.

Daddy and Reagan had a great time on the spinning tea cups.

One tired family in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle.

This picture was actually taken on Wednesday night,
the last night the whole family was their together.

Meghan, Beth, Alex, and Del.

My parents, Al & Marylin, Lincoln, Alex, Tim, Meghan, Beth, & Del.
Front row: Me & Reagan.

I have some picture's from the different rides we went on, I will scan them and upload them soon. We made funny faces and held up fake gang signs and one time we all posed as different letters that made up YMCA...we did that on the Tower of Terror, that ride was so much fun!!

For some reason we didn't take any picture's when we were at Laguna Beach, we had a great time, went to the beach everyday and stayed at a great place called The Tides Inn.
I would recommed this to anyone, my brother's family had the largest suite, it had a full kitchen, sitting area, and 2 queen beds. My parents had 1 queen, and a small kitchen. We had 2 fulls and a fridge. It has the feel of a beach house, it also has a bbq area and a salt water pool. We walked to the beach, shopping and dinner every night. It was nice to go there and relax before we headed back home.

We've made it

We have had the most fun. Yesterday while, we were on our way to the princess fair I saw this guy with Mickey Mouse ears hiding in the shade. I thought he was hiding so he wouldn't have to sell mouse ears in the sun, then I saw another lady with ears and thought something is going one here. Well, we all received collector ears that you can't buy in the stores, and they told us our dream had come true. The ears are nice and we did wear them, I'm not sure it was a dream come true. Tomorrow we head off to Laguna beach for some needed down time for a couple of days before we head back home. I will update with picture's when we get home.

It's 90 degrees outside and we have colds

We all have colds, it started with Lincoln and then as if on cue the rest of us get sick simultaneously. Hopefully we will be feeling better before Sunday. That is when we leave for Disneyland and Laguna Beach with my parents, we are meeting my brother and his family there for a fun filled vacation. They live in Colorado and only get to see them a couple of times a year. Reagan calls my brother Uncle Dude, because one summer he was saying dude for everything so she just started calling him uncle dude. My sister in law is Auntie Beth, their oldest is Alex and Reagan calls their daughter Meghan (Money), she can now say Meghan but she just loves to call her Money. I think she use to call Alex (Alice), but she hasn't called him that in a very long time. I'm going to go to bed now, maybe we will leave the house tomorrow or maybe not, we have air conditioning and its really hot outside.
