Uncle "Dude"

My oldest brother Del had a conference close by and we were able to meet up and have dinner at Chili's. This is my brother the writer slash engineer. Reagan didn't need to warm up to her Uncle at all, they have this funny relationship where they tell knock knock jokes and laugh hysterically. Lincoln needed a little warm up time but soon remembered Uncle Dude.

We didn't get enough time to spend with each other, makes me sad at times that we live to far apart. We miss you too Beth and wish you could have been here too. The kids miss their cousin's, Reagan just adores Alex & Meghan (she actually calls her money because she couldn't say Meghan when she was little and it has just stuck) and she loves her earrings and make-up.....she loves all things Meghan!!

In a couple of weeks we are headed out to see my other older brother Bill and his wife Danielle on the east coast. I love my brother's and I wish I was able to see them more, but when we do get to see each other it makes those times that much more special.

My little project

So, I forgot to take a before picture but here is a close up of the faucet.
I replaced it because Reagan has a hard time turning it on to wash her hands.

What was I thinking?

Reagan modeling the new faucet. With separate hot and cold handles, the water can't get too hot now.

Under the sink, I had almost know idea what I was doing, I kept calling my Dad, he is so great. (Tim was in a meeting or I would have called him)

All I have to say is plumbers puddy is so gross...yuck, and I will leave out the description of what the trap looked like...super gross.

Doesn't it look so nice, it said in the instructions it would take 45 minutes, it took about 3 hours and another 24 hours for the caulking to dry completely.

I also had to change the drain part and that was most of the work.

I think it looks great, now only 4 more to do....I think I will take my time with the others.

Farm Animals Rock!!

We took the kids to an annual farm animal and agricultural festival. The baby chicks were Lincoln's favorite, he absolutely didn't want to leave, oh how he loves those chicks.

More chicks!

Then we found the kiddie pool full corn, they had so much fun!! So much fun that when we had to leave, Lincoln bit me on my shoulder. So after a short time-out and a nice apology from him we went on to have lunch. (He hasn't bit me in over a year...he must have been really mad.)

We found the momma chicks and Lincoln watched her lay an egg, it was great!! Oh, and we heard a roster crow and then Lincoln crowed, it was priceless!!

My parents came to help out, Tim is still having trouble walking. We found a saddle so both kids took turns.
Reagan wants a guinea pig so bad, ever since she saw an episode of Charlie and Lola. Lola gets to take care of the class pet a guinea pig and the guinea pig has babies at her house. She says, "I absolutely know everything about guinea pigs." If you know about Charlie and Lola, you know what I'm talking about.

Feeding baby goats.

Baby cows.
And they ride off into the sunset, in their very own tiny dune buggy. (we didn't buy it)

Oregon Ballet Theater

My best friend Emily invited us to join her to visit the ballet for $2.00 a person!!
Her home school friends got us the deal, we were there with a bunch of school aged kids.
I will have to say they were the best bunch of behaved kids I have ever been around.
At the end of the presentation, we saw, Dr. da Vinci’s Undersea Adventure, a new work choreographed by Oregon Ballet Theater principal dancer Anne Mueller.

Reagan up close to the signed ballet shoes.

Emily, Drake and Reagan with the beautiful costume.

Reagan loved everything!!! She wants to be a ballerina more than ever!!

I just wanted to share with you all a couple of quick and cute conversations that I have overheard and have been apart of.

  1. Reagan brought home from preschool an outline of herself on a large piece of white paper. On the bottom of the paper it said "Doctor Reagan", taped it to the wall by our kitchen because it was too big for the fridge and every time Lincoln walks by it he says, "Wow, big da ha!!" (if you don't know that is what he calls his big sister).
  2. I'm reading to Lincoln the last book we always read before we say our prayers and tuck him. Its Goodnight Moon, and Reagan has it memorized as I'm sure Lincoln does too, but Reagan was going to the bathroom which is in between their rooms. I start reading and I hear Reagan saying the line in the book right before I'm going to say it, mind you she is on the toilet taking care of business but it doesn't bother her, and it was priceless.
  3. When the kids and I are outside or going places and if we see something really big, we always say, "wow that's a big daddy truck" or "look a big daddy dog" or "look a big daddy worm." Lincoln loves saying, "wow big daddy ______fill in the blank." So, I am changing Lincoln's diaper and it was number 2, and I said, wow Lincoln that was a big one, and he says, "yeah, a big daddy poopie." I could have fell over laughing but I had to finish changing his diaper. Oh these kids sure are entertaining!!!

Much better

Today I feel much better. Had a fever most of yesterday and after a long night sleep woke up feeling rested and ready for the day....even if it was at 5:30 am when Lincoln woke up. I tried to convince him to go back to sleep with me but he would only reply with "nack peas" meaning snack please...he is hungry and "eigo peas" meaning he wants to watch Diego, or he said "memoo peas" which means movie or just means turn on the tv please. Lincoln surprised me the other day by spelling elmo and then said elmo, he is learning a lot from his big sister.

Really windy here today, recorded a gust at 26 miles per hour.

Round 2

I'm sick, I think it may be what Lincoln had. I'm going to the doctor, my Mom is also sick. My Dad took the rest of the day off and bless his heart took Reagan. I just have Lincoln and he will nap for most of the afternoon so maybe I can sleep. This has really knocked me down, I'm so tired, heahache, body hurts all over, hot flashes, and my stomach hurts so bad. Will post later.

We interupt this program.....

To bring you SNOW!!
It is April 20th in the Pacific Northwest and we have snow,
this just doesn't happen here.

When Tim got up with Lincoln it had snowed a little bit.
But by 8:30 am it was snowing big giant flakes!

I told Reagan to remember this because this
probably wouldn't happen again for a very long long time.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone,
its now 2 pm and the sun is out and its like it never snowed!

Snow, new bed, and hail

Snow at 6:30am this morning, it was a little bit of a surprise.

Lincoln's new toddler bed.
$50 at Walmart, great deal!!

His new toy box in his room.

The storm, it was hailing on and off for about an hour.

Our street.

Its almost over.

Last year we had a similar storm.

uhhh....what's that smell???

Its vomit, and it is infused into our carpet and I cannot get the smell out.
I will tell you what I have done.

  • Quickly cleaned up the mass amount of vomit.
  • Pre-treated the area with stain & smell remover
  • Used our carpet cleaner on it twice
  • Used Febrez
  • Used Arm & Hammer carpet & fabric fresh odor eliminator
What do I do now?
You can't smell it unless you wipe your hand where it was and then smell your hand or put your nose in the carpet. But I can smell it.......it haunts me all day....taunting me!!!

Help, what else can I do? I told Tim that we need to get new carpet, he thinks I'm joking!

I wish I could the carpet in the drying center.

I heart my dryer

When we built our home, we bought a new washer and dryer. We purchased the Maytag drying center and love it.

I have heard that many owners are having problems with the heating element going out and that Maytag isn't making the dryers anymore. The horrible part of this is that the heating element is going out and is on back order until Sept '08. I can't imagine being without a dryer for that amount of time. And Maytag is only offering a 15% discount on a new dryer. But I don't think I would take it, I love our drying center.

We use the top portion of the dryer almost every week.
  • We dry and frebrez Tim's air cast boot from his surgery to get rid of the funk.
  • I cleaned and then put Lincoln's wood train tracks in there and now they smell really good.
  • Shoes
  • Rugs
  • Dress shirts and dresses
  • Gloves
Well, Tim just informed me that our dryer won't need a heating element because we have a gas dryer!! I'm so glad that we decided to go with the gas dryer instead of electric. But now all I can think about is that an open flame is drying our clothes, like there is a little camp fire behind the walls of our dryer that is no-mans land.....because only the repair guy has the right tools to go there.

streptococcus zoococcus - -- - update

Lincoln is still sick with a bad tummy bug, I will call it streptococcus zoococcus. I thought he was better but this morning he threw up again in his bed...yuck.
He has had 4 or more diarrhea diapers a day. (as I'm typing this I just heard him fill his pants with a very familiar gurgling sound...I know its gross)
So I called the doc and Lincoln is on a oral re-hydration schedule.

2 tsp every 2 minutes for 4 hours of gatorade (not the red flavor). If you continues to vomit in the first hour increase to 3 tsp every 2 minutes for the rest of the 4 hours. If he continues to vomit call doctor.
After 8 hours of no vomiting he can have yogurt (live culture, vanilla or custard flavor only)
banana's, rice, toast and beans.

This bug is going around, many of our friends and their kids are sick with it, especially the little ones. Tim's Grandma is also sick with it and she in the hospital because she is very dehydrated.

Lincoln did great all day, however right before Tim got home Lincoln threw up right in front of me and all over his train tracks.......so incredibly gross. Called the doc again because I am one of those mothers, and the nurse told me the same thing as before. I asked her if it was the rotavirus or if it was contagious and she said she hadn't heard it called anything yet and she didn't know if it was contagious or not, but it only seems to be really affecting the old and very young.

His wood train tracks smell very good after lots of soapy water and plenty of Lysol. The carpet is clean but I can still smell it, I'm headed to the store for some kid and pet stain remover...don't worry its not harmful to the kids.

And you ask how Lincoln is doing, well.....when he isn't throwing up, he is pretty much his playful self who is very hungry and upset with his parents for not feeding him. We will try toast and banana's in the morning if he is up for it.

Updated --- We went to the Zoo and so did everyone else!!!

2 weeks ago it was snowing, today it was 80 degrees!!

We went to the zoo and didn't realize it was Packy's 46th birthday.

I tried to bribe Reagan out of going, because we had park in the shuttle lot, take a school bus and wait in the longest line at the zoo I have ever seen. I have never seen the zoo this packed before, we saw the elephants last, which helped to avoid the crowds.

My parents renewed our membership so we got in very quickly.
I took one picture of the bears and my camera died....will post that up soon.

We had a great time, a little hot but oh well.
Lincoln fell asleep on Mom's shoulder and Reagan fell asleep on the way home.

Tomorrow we are not going anywhere after church, just home and playing around the house.

(Lincoln puked in his sleep last night so Lincoln and I stayed home and Tim and Reagan went to church) I also mowed the lawn again, I think I cut it too short, I hope I didn't kill it.

I love my princess paper dolls

Cinderella and Belle's adventure to find
Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White, and Aerial.
By Reagan

Once upon a time in an enchanted land there lived Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White and Aerial. They all lived together in a big castle. They had many balls and dances to honor all the princesses and to show off their beautiful dresses. But one day some of the princesses were missing. Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White, and Aerial have gone missing and it is up to Cinderella and Belle to solve the mystery.

Cinderella and Belle found all the pretty dresses but could not find their friends. They looked in all the rooms in the castle and looked in all the pretty gardens on the castle property. Where could our friends be they thought?

This saddened them greatly and would like nothing more than to be together again.

Reagan is the great queen of this enchanted land and is offering a handsome reward for any information that would lead her to her missing princesses.

You see these are her favorite paper doll princesses and we have looked high and low all over this house and cannot find them.

This story was dictated by Mommy.

I did it!!!

I mowed the lawn today after a quick tutorial from Tim. I have never actually used our mower before and my only experience with a mower wasn't self propelled.

It wasn't too bad, and it was fairly easy. My only real complaint is that my ears are really cold now and my head hurts from being cold. Even though it is really sunny outside and I did get a little warm, its just that it is so windy today and my ears just hurt now.

Tim takes great pride in the lawn and has really enjoyed keeping it nice and green for the kids and soft too. There are some areas that need to be thatched or are thatched, I'm not sure on the correct way to say that. I did an excellent job, but hopefully I wont be doing this all summer long.

Spring Will Be Pretty by Dave Crawley

Spring Will Be Pretty

Spring will be pretty. Just give it a week,
When flowers are blooming down by the creek.
Bees will be buzzing as trees start to bud,
But for the moment I'm covered with mud.
Snow has been melting, since winter is through,
Replacing the whiteness with puddles of goo.
I stepped off the sidewalk and into the ooze.
Next thing I knew, I stepped out of my shoes!

Mud on my ankles and mud on my clothes.
I stumbled face-first and got mud up my nose.
Spring will be pretty, but I must confess,
The first days of spring are a muckety mess!

—Dave Crawley

The kids and I went outside after lunch today.
It had been raining all morning and it is so nice to see and enjoy the sun!
We played in the mud, we planted our Easter lily, and looked for worms.

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Tim's recovery is taking longer than expected and he has been home half days which is actually been very nice.

The groan I am making is because in light of the nice weather, our grass is growing like crazy. Which means I need to mow the lawn. Our mower needed a tune up and a new blade and I pick it up tomorrow....I loaded it by myself and took it down to the dealer.

I have not mowed a lawn in over 12 years....ugh. The service guy said to me, hey you might end up liking it? What...ugh......I hope he is right. I'm not one to usually complain, so I will find the good in it, I get to be outside, one with nature, and oh did I say I was allergic to grass.

I love my husband and can't wait till he is better!!!

Cool kids.....crafty Mom

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Lincoln wearing my old sunglasses.

Reagan dressing up like a fairy.

I weaved another basket, it needs a handle, I think I will hang it on the wall.

I'm so crafty!
