Hola

We are having a great time!! It is warmer than last time and more humid but I we are not complaining!! Reagan was born to be in the water...she loves the beach and wants to move here.

Lincoln loves the sand and getting his toes wet, but has had a heat rash on his shoulders, chest and back the entire time so far. He loves to dig and hid things in the sand.

This is the quilt that I made for my brother Bill and his wife Danielle's baby due in April.

Tim and Lincoln at the water park, have I mentioned yet that we are having a blast.

This is our master suite, the kids have one just like and in between our rooms in a kitchen living room area with two couches, a dining room table and breakfast bar.

Here is Reagan after some time playing in the ocean. We haven't swam in the ocean since Monday because 3 Mayan Palace guest drowned on Monday. It was horrible, my older brother Del and his son came accros a guest that had died and the police had just arrived and about 4 hours later a husband and wife drowned, one was trying to save the other and they both died. The ocean has kinda lost its appeal since then.....however the wonderful sandy beach has been nice.

That is the water park view from our room, Lincoln had done down every slide with his cousin Alex and so has Reagan but she went by herself.

This is the view from our lani, it has a soaking tub, I forgot to include that picture. I don't have much time, left to check my email so I will keep this short.

These are my toes, looking out on the beautiful beach, I will include more picture's once we get back.

Just wanted you all to know that we have made it and are having a wonderful time.

This isn't good

I don't feel well, this isn't happening, I'm not going to get sick!!! Maybe if I took a nap I will feel better. I have a headache, stomach issues, and muscle soreness.....I think its because I didn't get a good nights sleep. We leave Saturday, I will be just fine...right?

Not how they use to do it.

This is where the helicopter would pick up his load of tree's and then quickly fly them to the truck up the hill and drop them off. I could have stayed and watched it all day, the cool part was watching the pilot stick half of his body out the door.....it was so cool!!

This reminds me of the last time we went to Acapulco and when we visited the Walmart to buy some food and they had Christmas tree's from Silverton, maybe we will see them again this year.

My Super Duper Sweet 16, Awesome 80's Prom Birthday Party!!

So, this is a weird picture to start this off but I want to show you how big my hair was, after the night it wasn't as big but you get the idea.

Here is Cyndi, Laura and Suzie in the bathroom primping and spraying before we took the prom picture's.

This picture of Suzy reminds me of an advertisement for hair spray.

Here are Tim and I, I think Tim was in the middle of a goofy face, can you see how big my belt is....its big. I also want to mention that Tim was at my first sweet 16 birthday party, I don't remember him being there because my older brother Bill was having a party as well and I didn't mind because most of them were on the varsity football team.....what more could a girl want for her birthday....senior varsity football players and my future husband!!!

Here we are the happy couple, check out the blush and the bangs...they went in two different directions. Tim also had on original air Jordan's.

Joe & Laura, Joe is still mostly in the 80's so he didn't have to look far for his outfit, and Laura rocked the side pony and the big hoop earrings.

Marv & Suzie, she borrowed the dress from her bible study leader and her son thought she was a super hero with super hero hair.....and look at the skinny tie on Marv...oh we had fun!

Sunny & Mike, don't you love the shoulder pads on Sunny, you can't see it well but she has a big white bow in her hair....and Mike has a Cosby inspired sweater on with a tie around his head.

Jan & Sherm, our chaperon's for the evening, Jan's daughter Trudie (who I graduated from high school with) still had her crimper and all us girls were jealous because none of us could find one. Sherm had his glasses that he actually wore back in the 80's!!

Melissa & Barton, they matched!!!! They get the prize for best matching couple, and don't you love Barton's hat and suspenders!

Mark & Laura brought their own squirt guns, we called Mark Crocket all night from Miami Vice, and the gold headband is from when Laura was on color guard in high school, her Mom still had some of the fabric.
Cyndi was going for the Madonna look and I think she nailed it, she had the bangle bracelets, a cross necklace and original neon yellow earrings from the 80's. Dave wore a tuxedo shirt like Tim and pegged the bottom of their jeans.

Emily & Loren, don't you love her side pony tail and teal earrings...wow and that dress sparkled all night. Loren found a mullet wig and didn't take it off until after bowling...we had so much fun!!
I wanted you to see the back part of Loren's mullet wig, so you could fully appreciate it.

Again, Cyndi even had the two different color socks....she looks like the material girl!

This is me, I just wanted you all too get a better look at my shoulder pads, it has been a long time since I wore a pair of those.

Em & Me, she was there at my first sweet16 birthday party and 16 years later we are still the best of friends!! Together in blue eye shadow and mega loads of blush, 80's girls at heart.

Here is a group picture of us all before we left for bowling.

And a goofy picture of all us.

We totally had so much fun and laughed all night because when we would look at each other we couldn't help but not laugh!!! We all looked so good and the people at the bowling alley had a great laugh as well. After bowling we went to Cold Stone and had ice cream, what a great birthday party!!! I had so much fun and want to know which one of my friends is going to have the next 80's party!?!

Final 3

I talked to Lindsey last night and just told her that we are cheering her on and so proud of her!! Can you believe with all she is doing, she is still nursing Bjorn...she is wonder woman!

Lindsey won the cooking challenge yesterday, if you didn't see it she had like 30 seconds to pick food from a mini mart called "Ray-Mart" and cook a well balanced diet. She made:

White Bean and Sausage Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon EVOO – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 pound pork sausage, your favorite variety, removed from casing
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, diced
  • 1 bundle of celery, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and ground black pepper
  • 3 15-ounce cans cannellini beans, drained and rinsed, 1 can mashed or pureed in a food processor to a paste
  • 3 to 4 cups chicken stock (depending on how thick you like your soup)
  • 4 whole wheat bagels, sliced in half and quartered, toasted
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Place a large pot over medium-high heat with 1 turn of the pan EVOO, about 1 tablespoon. Add the sausage to the pan and cook, breaking it up into small pieces with a spoon, until golden brown, 6-7 minutes.

Add the onions, garlic, celery, cayenne, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper to the pan, and cook until the veggies are tender, 5-6 minutes.

Add the whole and mashed cannellini beans to the pot along with the stock and bring up to a bubble. Simmer until thickened, 4-5 minutes. Serve soup with toasted buttered bagel quarters alongside.

Serves 6

Momma Lindsey's Apples and Dipper

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups peanut butter, your kid's favorite variety
  • 2 Three Musketeer bars, cut lengthwise and chopped, divided
  • 4 apples (any variety you like), cored and sliced

Directions

Mix together the peanut butter and half of the chopped candy bar in a small serving bowl.

Sprinkle the remaining chopped candy bar over the top of the bowl as a garnish. Serve with apple slices for dipping.

Serves 4

Busy, busy, busy

That's me busy. In 2 weeks we leave for sunny Acapulco, Mexico for the whole week of Thanksgiving. It is a family reunion on my side of the family and I can't wait to see my older brothers and their families. That is one of the reasons I am so busy, my sister in law is pregnant with their first child and I am busy making the baby something and want to give it to them in person. I would tell you but my wonderful brother Bill and my SIL Danielle read my blog. After Mexico I will do a post about it because I am taking picture's.

The other reason I am busy is I'm getting ready for my super duper sweet 16 awesome 80's prom birthday party. I have to get the cardboard for the backdrop for the 80's prom picture's, buy the o'horderves, and get the disco ball from my parents place. I will of course be taking picture's of that as well.

Tim and the kids aren't feeling well this morning so we decided to stay home and go to Bedside Baptist Church:)

Things the kids said this week

Reagan asked me,
  • "Mom, when am I not a kid anymore?"
  • "Mom, who is Verak Omamba?"
  • "I'm sorry, I forgot I'm not suppose to hit Lincoln."
  • "Mom, where are we going today?, tomorrow, or the next day after that?" She is our planner, always wanting to go and do and have an adventure....I love that about her!!
Lincoln said,
  • "Mom, I want to marry you!"
  • "Mom, you cuddle me on da couch and watch Dora?"
  • "I wanna go back home!" We leave the driveway and he instantly says that....he is our homebody...and truthfully I don't blame him!!
Lincoln got stung by a mean old nasty wasp today, he was very brave and didn't shed a tear. We sent Ditka out to find and eat the bee, because Ditka likes to do that. But we had to wrap up Lincoln's hand and not look at it or ask to look at it and most certainly not touch it. After about an hour he said he was all better and back to himself, that is until he fell off the back of the couch.

Did you watch?

My friend Lindsey did great, but I'm biased. Here is a link to more information about her on the Rachel Ray Show website.

I couldn't believe that Marvin was allowed to stay on the show after he cheated by turning off Milton's burner. I wonder if they will address this next Monday?

Halloween pics

Okay, so this isn't Halloween, but it was Reagan on her class field trip.

Sarah, Jayden, and Reagan...these girls are tight!!

So, you might be asking yourself, I thought Lincoln was going to be a cow and you would be right. However, it was chaffing our poor guy right in a place it shouldn't for little boys. So, we did a quick change back into Mickey Mouse and everything was all better. He now says that he wants to be Mickey every year.

In the picture, Lincoln, Reagan (she is an OSU cheerleader) and good friend and neighbor Chloe (she is a cat). Tim and Chloe's Dad...Mr. Brent take the kids every year, I love it!! I get to stay home and pass out candy, its my favorite thing to do. I wear this big witches hat with feathers around the rim and say boo when I open the door.
