Lincoln's Ikea play kitchen --- not official

Started the day off great. We started building and it wasn't hot at all, in the 70's, but quickly got warm in the garage. I used the miter saw, jig saw, sander, and drill, I love it that Tim has good tools. I would have used the table saw but I haven't used it before and would rather have Tim teach me first.

I cut the hole larger than the plans call for so I had to go back to home depot for more wood and cuts for the shelf and oven door. I asked Lincoln how he wanted the door to open and he said down so he could cook me something and I said...okay.

If I wasn't taking care of the dog, the kids, and having to run to home depot and McDonald's, it would have been done this morning. But because life happens it didn't get done until about 4 pm.

Lincoln just loves it, and so does his big sister. They are currently in Lincoln's room, cooking up a storm of different kinds of food. I still need to go and get a bowl to fit in the whole. My Dad had a piece of 8 inch metal trim that goes around an electrical stove top burner. That was perfect for hiding my not so perfect hole. I also need to put down some coasters for burners and put a piece of wood on top of the shelf, but for now its perfect.

Lincoln wants to cook

So, Lincoln has been asking for a kitchen for his room, he doesn't want to use Reagan's because its pink. Not wanting to spend a lot of money, I did a little research and found this homemade kitchen built from Ikea furniture.

This is the website where I found it,
This woman Virgina was a genius and even drew up a schematics to help you put it together yourself. I went to Ikea and priced most of it out and it might cost $30 to $40 built it. I can't wait to make it for Lincoln.

Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday Reagan!!

For Reagan's party the girls had to do Cinderella's work. They dusted, cleaned mirrors, and vacuumed. When they completed the chores they made a mask with glue, feathers and sequins. They then went upstairs and were transformed into Cinderella's.

With some magic, fairy godmother Nana Sue and fairy godmother Brooke did make-up and not pictured was fairy godmother Nana S who was doing hair in Reagan's room. That is where they got their crowns and veils.

Don't they look like a dream, just lovely.

Then they had snow cones, opened presents and had cake. It really was a lot of fun and all the girls had a good time.

We told Reagan that if she wanted, she could get her ears pierced when she turned 6 years old. At first she didn't want to because she was afraid of the pain. But when she heard that her very good friend Sarah was getting her ears pierced for her birthday next month, she decided to do it.
This was Nana Sue's present to Reagan.

This was taken right after her ears were pierced and she has buried her head in my torso.

She finally pulled her head out after about a minute of tears and thought that it would be a good idea to use her birthday money to go and buy a used game for her new Nintendo DS that she got from Nana for her b-day. This girl had a great day!!

You can't really tell but she picked out blue earrings to match her Cinderella dress. Just so you know she has been all smiles for the rest of the day....she's on cloud nine! Love you Reagan!!!

I had a girls weekend away with some of the most wonderful women and can't wait to go again. Molly took more picture's than me, so the ones I do have are from the first day at the pool. I also didn't get picture's of everyone that went. I missed, Laura, Tami, Julie, and Kristina....I'm sure I can get some from Molly.

I think this picture says it all, this is what we did and other things.

Sunny hosted at her vacation home and to her we are ever grateful!!

We also read trashy magazines and solved most of the world's problems.

We ate, had fellowship, went shopping, relaxed, had a wonderful much needed time away with other awesome women!!

The husbands go in August, it will be interesting to see what the guys do with their weekend....I doubt there will be any bed sharing :)

One year

In August we will have been trying to have another baby for one year. This has been a struggle. When we were trying with Reagan I thought time was standing still, it seemed like everything was taking forever and I would NEVER get pregnant. With Lincoln it took 6 months, just like with Reagan. So, when it didn't happen so easily I knew something was up. But this time, I have had the joy of having 2 wonderful kids to fill my days and to pass the time. I still so desperately want to be pregnant again and to have another child.

This garage sale has me torn up inside. I can't sell the baby girl clothes because what if we have a girl and I can't sell the baby boy clothes for the same reason. And then there is all the baby equipment that one must have that I don't want to sell, again for the same reason.

But, but what if it doesn't happen at all. When do I let go of the baby clothes? When do I pass on the bouncy seat to a friend? Maybe that is the hangup, I need to fully give that to God, to be at peace and realize that we might not have anymore kids. That God's plan for me and for our family is two kids, and Ditka. That's hard to think about. Its already in His hands, it will or won't happen in His timing. But I believe it will happen in His timing, I just wish I knew when that was.

Thanks for listening.

Garage Sale

Friday & Saturday I'm having a garage sale. I've been super busy getting things organized and priced. The kids are sleeping over with Nana Sue & Papa Kim tonight, which is a huge help. My Mom is coming over in the morning to help me set up and the kids are going to sell snow cones.

My Grandparents use to go around to the different county fairs and sell food with what we fondly called the meat wagon. They sold, hamburgers, hot dogs, curly fries, soda and outside they had a little stand for snow cones and popcorn. I use to go with them in the summer time and would help out where needed, and I could do it all. It had a deep fat fryer and we had so much fun seeing what would taste good fried and well almost anything tastes good fried.

I am using that snow cone machine and the kids are going to sell snow cones for .50 cents, normally sold for $1.00 but its a garage sale and things are suppose to be a deal. Flavors are Cherry, Lime and Grape, picture's to soon follow.

Don't read me

Why is it that I always think of really good posts right before I fall asleep and by morning they are gone....poof.....gone from my brain only to be remembered far to long after the fact that it would be silly to post about?

Happy 4th of July

We had some loud fireworks.

Tim teaching Reagan how to lite a firework with a punk and Lincoln watching carefully behind her.
We had a great time and the kids loved them all.

I love this picture and how the kids are close to Daddy for the loud whistling Pete.

I love this picture it makes me smile!!

Last sparkler of the night right before things went south.

2 seconds later it is in her eye and 15 minutes later we are on our way to the ER.

3.5 hours after that we are home and in bed. Today we saw the on call eye doctor at his office because our ER is not set up to treat eyes in the middle of the night. She has a scratched cornea and he removed a piece of sparkler dust from her upper eye lid. She is cleared to go to the rodeo so we are off in just a few minutes for that. Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

There is this little girl that is not so little anymore.....she is turning six at the end of the month and she reminds us daily. Today we crafted her birthday invitations to her liking.

Her party is going to be a Cinderella party. Sadly she has lost her slipper

I got some double sided cardstock in a light fuschia color. On the darker side I printed the lost slipper information.

On the back the information about when and where. You should click on the picture so you can actually read the wording on the invitation.

I used my Silhouette cutter to cut out glass slippers using silver translucent paper.

Lastly we glued them on to the front of the invitation and then sprinkled glitter around the border of the glass slipper so it would sparkle like glass.

Here is the birthday girl with the final invitation and she just can't wait to mail them.
