What did I eat??

I had a severe allergic reaction to something I ate last night. Upset stomach, got sick and then I started to itch. It was getting worse as time went on. So, Tim called his Mom to be with the kids because they were already in bed.

For the first time in my life I was taken straight back to a room at the ER. I did look pretty freaky, my face was bright red, my hands were swollen itchy and red....they itched the most. They gave me a shop of epinephrine, benadryl, pepcid and decadron. I puked from the epi and then promptly felt drugged and went to sleep.

The Dr. told me that it was most likely something I ate since it started inside my body. The Dr. said this may be the only time I will have an allergic reaction to whatever it was that I ate, since I didn't eat any thing new.

Here is what I ate, don't laugh....or judge me. I will start at Lunch.
I ate a chicken salad sandwich with cheese its and a glass of water
On our ride to see Great Grandma Ruth in the hospital I took a secret bit of Lincoln's chocolate. Got thirsty in the Costco parking lot and found a day old grape Gatorade so I had a small drink and gave the rest to Reagan.

For dinner and made myself a tomato, mozzarella salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil....that is one of my favorite dinners to have...especially in the summer when the tomatoes are fresh from the garden. I then tried some of Tim's dinner, which ones just 1 small pizza roll that he bought at costco and then half a one because Reagan didn't like it.

Then I treated myself to a bowl of breyers all natural vanilla ice cream with some chocolate magic hard shell and some regular Hersey's chocolate syrup. (Remember no judging ;) )

Its around 7:30pm I thought it would be a nice treat to make cookies for the kids so after they went to bed I started making chocolate chip cookies with no nuts, its the nestle toll house recipe on the package. After I mixed the wet ingredients I tasted it, and I know it has raw eggs but I still had to tasted it. Then I mixed the dry ingredients and then chocolate chips.

We rented the movie The Informant with Matt Damon and started to watch it just before 8pm. I ate about 3 spoon fulls of raw cook dough.....okay maybe 5, but who doesn't love raw cookie dough?

Around 8:30pm I started to feel like I was going to be sick, just when Matt Damon is telling the FBI agent that the company is doing everything by the book now and I think he was in Switzerland.

I went to the bathroom and got rid of most of my stomach content.
I then did the same from the other end of my body. I thought that maybe I got sick from the raw egg. I washed my hands and then put in hand sanitizer.

I then began to notice that the palm of my hands were bright red and itched like crazy.
( wondering if it was the hand sanitizer, even though have used it so many times?) We turned the movie off and I went up starts to lay down when I looked in the mirror and saw my bright red face. Then it was going up my arms. I took two benadryl and a promethazine for the nausea. Tim went to look my symptoms up on Dr. Google and then he called his Mom to be with the kids so he could take me to the doctor. And well you know the rest.

I posted some more picture's on flickr and you take look at those. .

Doing much better today, thank you God!!
Today I'm fine with just some small hives that don't itch too bad..
I'm very nervous about eating today and hope that I never have to go through that again.

O-R-E-O Lincoln turns 4!!

Lincoln insisted on an Oreo cookie birthday party! We went to the party store and Lincoln quickly discovered that they don't make Oreo cookie birthday decorations. So, good ol' Mom got to work making Oreo cookie decorations from scratch.

Like his present? We wrapped his present so it would look like a giant package of Oreo cookies. I scanned a cookie from a package we had at home and downloaded an Oreo cookie font and well....you can see my handy work.

I also printed out 44 Oreo cookies about 4 inches in diameter and then used my Silhouette cutter to cut them out and then we glued them on a volleyball party garland. I will show more of those picture's in another post.

The yummy cake and his present. We went to a new indoor water park that was built by the Salvation Army called the Kroc center. Ever since they opened, that is where he said his party would be.

I taped together Black and white poster paper to cover the table.....does it remind you of a certain cookie??? I printed out smaller Oreo's onto post-it picture paper and then used a 2 inch circle cutter to punch them out, the kids all helped stick them on the paper.

The birthday boy!!

I will spare you all the picture's of him opening all the presents. Instead I will just show you him opening up his big package of Oreo cookies.

Its a Fisher Price Imaginext dragon castle thing and he absolutely loves it!!

After cake and tons of Oreo's we went and did a little rock climbing on the rock wall and then we went swimming with all the party guests. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad that the grandparents could come, extended family and great friends could all come and help us celebrate Lincoln!! Thanks guys, Lincoln must have told me a hundred times today, "I love you Mom" and "thank you for the party." He is such a sweetie!!

We wait, so I read

I had an ultrasound yesterday, it was cd 4 and I wanted to start injections but needed an u/s first. I have lots of old follicles that are just hanging around or I actually never ovulated. I think I did but only God knows. I now am taking birth control for a few weeks and then we will recheck with an u/s.

I won't lie, I am disappointed. I wish I had a little peak at God's play book and see when this is going to happen. But then I know I would miss God's blessings along the way. Our pastor talked about how God doesn't always take the quickest route from point A to point B. Like most Americans we know how to get from our home to where ever we are going the fastest. However, God doesn't always take us on that road and sometimes its a gravel road with bumps and detours and sometimes it doesn't even feel like a road at all.

I am trying my best to read the bible from cover to cover this year. I have a handy little guide that tells me where I need to be in order to do it in one year. But really all it tells me is how far behind I am and how much reading I have to do to catch up.....sigh... Its okay, I am really enjoying reading about Abraham. He was quiet the character, I was laughing out loud as Abraham was speaking to the Lord in Genesis 18:26. Abraham was talking to the LORD and God was telling him that he was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham keeps asking God "what if" 50 righteous people are in the city, then later he says, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord....what if 45 righteous people are in the city." He does this till he has negotiated with the Lord all the way down to 10 righteous people.

At first I was thinking, I can't believe Abraham was negotiating with God questioning Him, but then it hit me. I do that all the time, we do it all the time and you know what? Our God responds to His children, how are we to know unless we ask, we will never know an answer unless we bring it to the Lord. He loves us and delights in us, Psalms 147:11, "the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love."

Homemade chicken noodle soup

I have made this before. I started it yesterday with the whole chicken, boiling the whole chicken with carrots, celery and onion. Today I showed the kids how to make the noodles and after I made the dough they made all the noodles. They did an excellent job!!
Here are a few picture's to document our culinary adventure.

Lincoln got a little too much flour on his clothes and decided that he only really needed to wear his underwear. They both worked really hard and made excellent tasting noodles.

Truth be told homemade noodles taste so much better than anything you can buy in the store.
Wish we could have everyone over for dinner so that none of this delicious soup will go to waste.

sick with colds

(Ditka really wanted to sit in my lap while I was posting this so I decided to use my webcam and take some picture's of the two of us......isn't he cute!!!)

We all have colds, I seem to be the only one with a runny nose and sneezing. I'm starting to feel better and less tender in my abdomen. Life has been moving along just like life does. Reagan has a science fair project we have been working on. Lincoln is a crack up and I love his tender "Mom, I love you" moments and then demands a kiss. That boy is strong willed....but has such a sweet tender spot for the special people in his life. When he thinks I will be upset with something, you will say "Mom....smile....please put a smile on." I oblige thinking....oh dear what has happened now?

We have a busy weekend planned with both kids attending separate birthday parties at the same time. People say it all the time, but time does fly when you are having fun.

We moved Reagan's room around. We added my old bunk bed that I'm sure was purchased 20 years ago. It has a single bed on top with a full bed on the bottom. We also kept Reagan's other bed in her room....so yes, she does have three beds in her room and loves it.

My parents took the queen out of the guest room and we turned that into a playroom/office. So, to our out of town friends/guests you will be staying in the Reagan bedroom. Reagan will stay in our room, the office or Lincoln's. I'm sorry the full is not as comfortable as the queen, but we hope to some day have it back as seasons change in our life.

I love having more space in the office and Reagan's room is much easier to clean, much easier!

I need to head to bed and restore my body so it can fight this cold.

Lincoln's double stuff birthday cake

Lincoln made it clear that he wanted a birthday cake that looked like an Oreo cookie.
Since his birthday is fast approaching I needed to get busy with a plan. After searching the Internet I came across this. I found it at Williams-Sonoma.

Today we did a test run.

The frosting recipe is perfect!

I think I will pipe his name on top in chocolate frosting and possibly the edges as well.

The kids can't wait to have dessert tonight!!!

Canceled

Its too risky. This is the follicle report: right ovary has 8 follicles range in size from 12 to 14.5mm with 1 at 16mm. Left ovary has 3 follicles range in size from 13-15mm and and 1 at 16mm. If I triggered tonight there is a high possibility that more than 5 eggs would conceive or more and I/we are not about to take that risk. And the doctor's completely agree.

Thank you for your prayers and I have felt them all day and have complete peace about canceling this cycle. No tears this time.

So, now we wait until I start my next cycle which should be in about 2 weeks. Mean while I am very tender and Tim and I are under strict instructions to abstain if you get my drift....wink, wink, nudge, nudge ;) I need to be careful because my mother and mother in law both read my blog and although I know it doesn't bother them its still a little weird.

Reagan still has hives and a fever, tomorrow we see the doctor.

Wait and see

I have 5 follicles that are 12.5 mm or bigger with one being 15.5 mm.
I have 13 follicles that are all smaller for a total of 18 follicles. My Dr. wants to convert to and IVF cycle but we can't afford that and insurance only covers a small portion of the total cost.
I thought this cycle was a loss and we would have to cancel and shed a few tears over that. But, the nurse called and said that I can give myself a shot of 75 iu of follistim tonight and in the morning do another u/s and blood draw. They are thinking that when the one large follicle gets large enough around 17 -20 mm and hopefully the other follicles will be smaller then we can then trigger......hopefully releasing one large egg.

There are a lot of "ifs" in the above statement and we reserve the right to cancel if too many of the follicles get to the "right" size. We are not wanting to become the next multiples reality show!

On top of all that is going on, Reagan is having some sort of allergic reaction to something and has a hive type rash all over her body that is moving or rotating. Waiting for a call from her doctor.

More tomorrow, thank you and please keep praying!
